deficient没有动词形式，只作形容词。
（1）not containing or having enough of something缺乏的，不足的
例如：Women who are dieting can become iron deficient.
节食的女性有可能缺铁。
（2）not good enough不足的，有缺陷的
例如：Our prisons are our most deficient social service.
我们的监狱是问题最大的社会机构。
如果想用动词表达缺乏的意思，可以用lack。
例如：Alex's real problem is that he lacks confidence.
亚力克斯的真正问题是缺乏信心。
