on the way的意思是在路上，在途中。come是来的意思，那么come on the way就是快过来的意思
一、way 有“道路”，“通道” 的意思。
（1）on the/one's way to“在半路上，在途中的意思”，后面接名词时，on the way 后接的to是介词，介词后再接名词。
例如1：He is on the /his way to school.他在上学的路上。
例句2：I lost my bag on the way to work. 我在上班路上丢了包。
例句3：He met his teacher on the way home. 他在回家的路上遇到了老师，注意这里home是副词，就没有介词to了，用法和go home 同。
（2）on the/one's way to后面接动名词时是即将到来，即将发生，接近，有进展的意思。
例如1：He is well on his way to becoming a doctor. 他即将成为一名医生。
例如2：I'm well on the way to finishing my homework. 我很快就将要写完我的作业了。
二、way 有“方式” “方法” 和“手段” “做法”的意思。基本结构是 ：the way to do 或the way of doing 。后接动词不定式或者of加动词ing，都译成“方法”，“方式”。两者没有明显的区别。
例句：That's the best way to clean the window. 和That's the best way of cleaning the window. 那是擦玻璃的最好方法。
